CycleScheme with James Cropper PLC
James Cropper and Wheelbase have been busy working on one of the most successful cycle to work schemes in the UK.
Over the past couple of weeks the lads at Wheelbase have been really busy getting over 50 bicycles ready to hand over to the lucky employees of James Cropper who have signed up for their cycle to work scheme.
The scheme is an initiative that stemmed from the Government's new Green Transport Plan which aims to encourage more people to cycle to work by offering up to a 50% saving on the cost of a brand new bicycle and safety equipment. The scheme is run through employers and administered by CycleScheme so the paper work is kept to a minimum.
"We really wanted to help our employees benefit from the money saving aspects of the scheme, but more importantly to consider leaving the car at home and arrive at work fresh, healthy and motivated after a brisk cycle into work along the Burneside lanes, we just didn't know we had so many budding cyclists here!"
Linda Burton, James Cropper Plc
CycleScheme have remarked that the James Cropper programme has been one of the most successful cycle to work programmes in the whole of the UK and the uptake has way exceeded expectations.
"It's great to see the CycleScheme programme working at its very best, getting people to leave their cars at home and cycle to work, enjoying the environment, getting fitter, and not polluting or jamming the roads up. I'm sure Cropper's privileged location in the Lakes has had something to do with it but it's just a great scheme that is easy to run and benefits everyone!"
Richard Grimsby, CycleScheme
James Cropper has really embraced the scheme and many of the employees are looking forward to a summer of cycling into work and heading out on rides throughout the Lakes.
With all the current traffic problems in Kendal, would it not be worthwhile for other local employers to take advantage of this excellent scheme? Relieving the roads of congestion but also having sprightly staff arriving to work fitter and bursting with energy is a rare thought but totally achievable!
"The scheme has been really well managed by Croppers and it's been a pleasure to see so many people getting out and about on two wheels, taking full advantage of this wonderful region we live in"
Chris Herd, Wheelbase UK Ltd
