Conveniently located in Darlington town centre, 15 minutes from the A1, Wheelbase North East opened its doors in May 2016. Local legend Danny Hart officially opened the store, and his Descend Bike Park is only 25 minutes away, in Hamsterley Forest – home to some of the best trail riding in the North East.

We currently stock bikes from Cannondale, Trek, Whyte, Yeti, Santa Cruz, Frog Bikes, Cervelo and Cube E-Bikes – with over 120 on display in-store as well as a full range of clothing and accessories. Our experienced team are readily available to offer assistance and advice and the workshop is on hand to service your bike maintenance needs.

Great riding is on our doorstep with the North York Moors and Yorkshire Dales offering superb but tough routes – PedalNorth has a great selection of MTB, leisure and road rides in the surrounding areas, including Hamsterley Forest. Ample public parking is available behind the store on Commercial St.

Great price, great experience Bought my Cervélo Aspero from Wheelbase for around £2,500, £500-700 cheaper than anywhere else, using PayPal’s interest-free credit. Chose in-store pickup over delivery, and they refunded the delivery charge straight away when I asked. The facility is excellent and staff were polite and helpful throughout: my bike was ready, pedals already fitted, and they talked me through everything and showed me the included tool pack.

I broke my wife’s ebike in for a service and to fix a problem with the control unit. The team were attentive as I described the problems I was having and reassured me that they would get to the bottom of the issues. A couple of hours later, I received a call to let me know that the bike was fully serviced, fixed and ready to roll. Andy, the engineer, went through all the various things he had done and explained how he fixed the issue with the control unit. I was really happy with the service and the overall price

The staff at Ilkley shop were accommodating today when I felt I needed to return an unused product I'd travelled to purchase in person. I haven't seen a bike shop for years with such a wide selection of bikes and price points. Wheelbase is a worthwhile highlight for any cyclist who finds themself in Ilkley. I'd happily buy a bike from the staff at this particular branch in the future.

The shop in Darlington has everything and the staff are friendly and helpful and on my last visit they helped me get the items I wanted, I highly recommend this shop and often look in to see what new products are in.
