Conveniently located in Darlington town centre, 15 minutes from the A1, Wheelbase North East opened its doors in May 2016. Local legend Danny Hart officially opened the store, and his Descend Bike Park is only 25 minutes away, in Hamsterley Forest – home to some of the best trail riding in the North East.

We currently stock bikes from Cannondale, Trek, Whyte, Yeti, Santa Cruz, Frog Bikes, Cervelo and Cube E-Bikes – with over 120 on display in-store as well as a full range of clothing and accessories. Our experienced team are readily available to offer assistance and advice and the workshop is on hand to service your bike maintenance needs.

Great riding is on our doorstep with the North York Moors and Yorkshire Dales offering superb but tough routes – PedalNorth has a great selection of MTB, leisure and road rides in the surrounding areas, including Hamsterley Forest. Ample public parking is available behind the store on Commercial St.

Very good service and my Shimano shoes arrived the day after. I am giving this review because there was an error with the GPay transaction when I placed the order. I called Wheelbase and they sorted the order out and even called me back to just check I was definitely receiving the correct size. I would recommend and use them again. Thanks Wheelbase for restoring my confidence in online shopping.

Very appreciative of Wheelbase for getting us the bike we wanted for our son’s birthday. As bike was out of stock following our order, they sourced us the current model and agreed the same price. They then communicated with us when it wasn’t going to arrive in time and offered an alternative colour so that we could have the bike by the big day. Excellent customer service. Absolutely brilliant service from my first phone call enquiring about a specific bike which was hard to find around the country. The salesman I spoke with couldn't help more. Listened to all the questions I had and provided the answers needed to support the sale. Being 200 miles away, Wheelbase were able to take a bike from the shop floor and pack it perfectly into a unique bike box whereby the handlebars remained in place. The bike arrived in perfect condition, no marks from being on the shop floor or from having been repacked. The bike also arrived within 2 days, having ordered at 3pm Monday, it was with me Wednesday morning. Excellent service and product!

1st Class As a new comer to mountain biking I had/have little to no knowledge I dealt with Johny, he was friendly, knowledgeable, helpful but not at all pushy. After great debate and then a little time thinking and further research I returned and placed my order. The bike was ready for collection at the time agreed, the hand over was equally as good.
