Conveniently located in Darlington town centre, 15 minutes from the A1, Wheelbase North East opened its doors in May 2016. Local legend Danny Hart officially opened the store, and his Descend Bike Park is only 25 minutes away, in Hamsterley Forest – home to some of the best trail riding in the North East.

We currently stock bikes from Cannondale, Trek, Whyte, Yeti, Santa Cruz, Frog Bikes, Cervelo and Cube E-Bikes – with over 120 on display in-store as well as a full range of clothing and accessories. Our experienced team are readily available to offer assistance and advice and the workshop is on hand to service your bike maintenance needs.

Great riding is on our doorstep with the North York Moors and Yorkshire Dales offering superb but tough routes – PedalNorth has a great selection of MTB, leisure and road rides in the surrounding areas, including Hamsterley Forest. Ample public parking is available behind the store on Commercial St.

Picked up my new bike yesterday. Really pleased with the service. Its my 3rd bike from Wheelbase and they have always been great with competitive prices. I have attend 3 demo weekends and I see them more of a cycle family than a shop. With definitely purchase another bike from them again

The service I received from initial telephone enquiry, to placing order to collecting my new bike was nothing short of exemplary. The staff were, without exception, polite, friendly, knowledgeable and helpful. The gentleman who handed my bike over was especially helpful, setting up my suspension and explaining everything about my bike with knowledge and enthusiasm. Unfortunately, my new bike was damaged in transit so had to return to the shop to be fixed. The team in Ilkley went above and beyond to atone for the issues replacing all the damaged parts and carrying out some additional set up work. Very professional, friendly and knowledgable. Would highly recommend. One thing I would say is no matter what the distance, always pick a new bike up, then you’re not beholden to the quality, or non-quality of the courier service, which of course is beyond the control of the Wheelbase chaps.
