Conveniently located in Darlington town centre, 15 minutes from the A1, Wheelbase North East opened its doors in May 2016. Local legend Danny Hart officially opened the store, and his Descend Bike Park is only 25 minutes away, in Hamsterley Forest – home to some of the best trail riding in the North East.

We currently stock bikes from Cannondale, Trek, Whyte, Yeti, Santa Cruz, Frog Bikes, Cervelo and Cube E-Bikes – with over 120 on display in-store as well as a full range of clothing and accessories. Our experienced team are readily available to offer assistance and advice and the workshop is on hand to service your bike maintenance needs.

Great riding is on our doorstep with the North York Moors and Yorkshire Dales offering superb but tough routes – PedalNorth has a great selection of MTB, leisure and road rides in the surrounding areas, including Hamsterley Forest. Ample public parking is available behind the store on Commercial St.

Had a great experience buying a bike online with Wheelbase. Was originally advised 1-2 weeks delivery time which was expected, but after ordering it the bike then came the next day! Paid for the premium delivery and set up and the bike was well put together with no issues. Had several emails and calls throughout the process so communication was excellent, and the price was reasonable too. Would definitely use them again.

All of the staff in the store were incredibly helpful and extremely patient. As a runner, looking to get some extra miles in cycling, I'm not really that knowledgable about bikes and the world of cycling. Prior to visiting Wheelbase, i went to another cycling shop where they were rude and patronising. Therefore, it was a breath of fresh air to meet with Bernie, who sold me my bike. On collecting it, Theo was exceptional and even the guy who wasn't serving me was lovely. Thank you to everyone in Wheelbase, glad I nipped on the off-chance after giving up on buying a bike.

The shop in Darlington has everything and the staff are friendly and helpful and on my last visit they helped me get the items I wanted, I highly recommend this shop and often look in to see what new products are in. They give good advice and are professional letting me know what is best for my bike and how to keep it in perfect condition, I will always use this shop knowing I am getting good value and a great service from the team.
