Conveniently located in Darlington town centre, 15 minutes from the A1, Wheelbase North East opened its doors in May 2016. Local legend Danny Hart officially opened the store, and his Descend Bike Park is only 25 minutes away, in Hamsterley Forest – home to some of the best trail riding in the North East.

We currently stock bikes from Cannondale, Trek, Whyte, Yeti, Santa Cruz, Frog Bikes, Cervelo and Cube E-Bikes – with over 120 on display in-store as well as a full range of clothing and accessories. Our experienced team are readily available to offer assistance and advice and the workshop is on hand to service your bike maintenance needs.

Great riding is on our doorstep with the North York Moors and Yorkshire Dales offering superb but tough routes – PedalNorth has a great selection of MTB, leisure and road rides in the surrounding areas, including Hamsterley Forest. Ample public parking is available behind the store on Commercial St.

 


Great service from Wheelbase, ordering was easy, price was great so overall I'm delighted with the company. Unfortunately the wheels have not arrived as advised which is due to Royal Mail. I'm really looking forward to trying this product but can't at present provide any feedback. All I can say is this happens a lot with Royal Mail, absolutely terrible service from them!

Knew what I wanted contacted the store as I seen they had the bike I wanted cheaper than anywhere else. Spoke to the shop at 430 on a Friday and they managed to get the bike built, through the workshop and ready for collection on the Saturday by 1pm, Handover was perfect went through all the bells and whistles on the bike and answered every question I asked. The staff at Ilkley shop were accommodating today when I felt I needed to return an unused product I'd travelled to purchase in person. I haven't seen a bike shop for years with such a wide selection of bikes and price points. Wheelbase is a worthwhile highlight for any cyclist who finds themself in Ilkley. I'd happily buy a bike from the staff at this particular branch in the future.

The shop in Darlington has everything and the staff are friendly and helpful and on my last visit they helped me get the items I wanted, I highly recommend this shop and often look in to see what new products are in. They give good advice and are professional letting me know what is best for my bike and how to keep it in perfect condition, I will always use this shop knowing I am getting good value and a great service from the team.
