Conveniently located in Darlington town centre, 15 minutes from the A1, Wheelbase North East opened its doors in May 2016. Local legend Danny Hart officially opened the store, and his Descend Bike Park is only 25 minutes away, in Hamsterley Forest – home to some of the best trail riding in the North East.

We currently stock bikes from Cannondale, Trek, Whyte, Yeti, Santa Cruz, Frog Bikes, Cervelo and Cube E-Bikes – with over 120 on display in-store as well as a full range of clothing and accessories. Our experienced team are readily available to offer assistance and advice and the workshop is on hand to service your bike maintenance needs.

Great riding is on our doorstep with the North York Moors and Yorkshire Dales offering superb but tough routes – PedalNorth has a great selection of MTB, leisure and road rides in the surrounding areas, including Hamsterley Forest. Ample public parking is available behind the store on Commercial St.

The advice and guidance I received around choosing and buying my first eMTB was excellent, as was the customer service. I recently bought a Cervelo Caledonia 5 from Wheelbase. I was in the market for a premium endurance road bike, and tempted by a good deal on a Colnago C68 from another bike shop. However, the latter shop was disengaged and the sale slipped through their fingers. Wheelbase was very responsive in dealing with my queries, and I've got the bike I need with minimal fuss. The handover in the shop was very slick. They paired the power meter with my Wahoo device which saved me hours of watching Youtube videos, fitted pedals and made other minor adjustments. Very happy with the service, and the heavily discounted price was a major factor in my purchase.
