We are very pleased to announce that we have now opened the doors of WHEELBASE Yorkshire, 25 Skipton Road, Ilkley, West Yorkshire LS29 9EW.

With 25 years of experience at the forefront of cycle retail we will provide Yorkshire’s cycling community with an extensive selection of road, mountain, triathlon, electric and leisure bikes from all the top brands, as well as the best clothing and accessories.

The store is now fully stocked with an extensive range and some stunning showcase products, plus a large state of the art Park Tools workshop. 

Ilkley is very well situated at the gateway to the glorious Yorkshire Dales and within easy reach of Leeds, Bradford, Harrogate and west Lancashire – a true hotbed of cycling. We are very excited to have the opportunity to bring WHEELBASE to West Yorkshire.

We live and breathe bikes here at WHEELBASE and we have built up our independently owned business from our HQ in the Lake District with some of the UK’s best mountain and road riding right on our doorstep. We opened our second store WHEELBASE North East in 2016 and our expansion into Yorkshire is the result of an acquisition of the former Ilkley Cycles.

Can’t recommend James enough, he was mega patient with me whilst making my decision on a new bike, I was spending more than I ever have on a bike and he explained the pros and cons of each model. Further helped by fitting my cushcores and having the bike invisiframe protected and also took the time on collection to get the bike set up for me. Top service, even though I traveled from Scotland to buy my bike I would 100% come back for my next one.

Wheelbase Ilkley has firmly become my preferred local bike shop. The team are not only highly knowledgeable, but also genuinely friendly, helpful, and patient — nothing ever feels like too much trouble. The workshop staff, in particular, really stand out. They understand that customers have a close relationship with their bikes (just as they do themselves), and they treat them with the same care and respect. Repairs and servicing are carried out efficiently to minimise downtime, and they always take the time to explain the work they’ve done. That level of transparency and education isn’t the norm, and it’s hugely appreciated. On the retail side, I’m more than happy to travel to the store and even pay a small premium over buying online because the service, expertise, and aftercare are genuinely superior. Great service from Wheelbase, ordered an Amflow PL carbon, received a curtesy call from the Ilkley store to arrange delivery, this gave me a chance to ask a few questions, they were very helpful and polite. Bike arrived quickly and was very well packaged, everything assembled super easily and everything worked perfectly thanks to the store pre assembly and checks by the professional mechanic. Highly recommended and would definitely buy from here again, many thanks!

I had an electric bike that had stopped working. I knew the motor and computer on the handle bar both worked fine as I could swap them over to another bike to check. Any way Liam managed to find the culprit ( wire misplaced in the controller). highly recommend !!!

Number 1 like any business it’s only as good as the people! Great service from a great team especially Mik the Master Technical Guru in the workshop & Jonny the Super Sales Guy in the shop.
