How To Install Tubeless Tyres

Installing Tubeless Tyres: Step-by-Step

Prepare the Wheel
- Ensure your rim is tubeless-compatible.
- Clean the rim thoroughly and check that the rim tape is correctly applied and airtight.
Fit the Tyre
- Mount one side of the tyre bead onto the rim.
- Insert the tubeless valve and secure it tightly.
- Carefully fit the second tyre bead onto the rim. You may need a tyre lever, but avoid damaging the tyre or rim.
Add Sealant
- Shake the tubeless sealant bottle and pour the recommended amount into the tyre (usually 30–60ml for road, 60–120ml for MTB).
- Some tyres allow sealant to be added before mounting the second bead; check the tyre manufacturer’s instructions.
Inflate the Tyre
- Use a high-volume pump or compressor to quickly inflate the tyre so the bead “pops” into the rim hooks.
- Inflate to the recommended pressure, then shake or rotate the wheel to distribute the sealant evenly inside the tyre.
Check for Leaks
- Spin the wheel and inspect for any air or sealant escaping from the bead or valve.
- If needed, top up the sealant or reseat the bead and re-inflate.
Final Adjustment
- Let the tyre sit for a few minutes to ensure the sealant fully seals small leaks.
- Adjust pressure to your preferred riding level.

Tips:

Always use a tubeless-specific tyre and rim.
Keep a spare tube and pump for first rides in case of difficulty.
Regularly check sealant levels, as it can dry out over time.
