The Fred Whitton Challenge takes riders over some of the Lake District’s toughest climbs on a demanding 112-mile charity sportive. As longstanding title sponsors, Wheelbase provides practical and mechanical support, helping the organisers deliver the event and keeping riders rolling as they take on this celebrated challenge.

South Lakes Bike Fest brings mountain bikers and families together for a weekend of riding, cycling activities and evening entertainment near Staveley. Supported by Wheelbase and closely connected to the Staveley 3 Valleys Challenge, the festival celebrates the local riding community, with plenty to enjoy on and off the bike.

Created in memory of young mountain biker Sam Houghton, the Staveley 3 Valleys Challenge raises funds for Cancer Research UK. Riders explore natural Lake District trails across a choice of routes. Wheelbase supports and promotes the event, helping connect our riding community with a local challenge that gives something back.

routes.cc is a Lake District cycling community bringing people together through group rides and time spent off the bike. Wheelbase supports rides, social events and maintenance workshops, helping riders build confidence, learn practical skills and meet others who share their enjoyment of cycling.

Kendal Cycle Club is the largest cycling club local to our Staveley store, with a longstanding Wheelbase relationship spanning several events. We work together on Lakeland Lanequest and support the club’s place in the local cycling community. Members also benefit from discounts when shopping in store.

Organised by Rich Munro in memory of Jenn Hill, Jennride brings cyclists together for a charity bikepacking adventure through the Lake District. Wheelbase supports the event and shares its stories, routes and photographs, helping introduce more riders to a local gathering built around riding, friendship and remembering Jenn.

Every year, riders test their legs on one of the Lake District’s steepest stretches of road at the Struggle Hill Climb. Hosted and Organised by The Lakes Road Club. Wheelbase provides organisational support and promotion for the event, helping bring riders and spectators together for a demanding race with a strong local following.

Rebike Cumbria refurbishes donated bicycles, giving them a new lease of life and helping more people access cycling. Through our trade-in campaigns, Wheelbase customers have contributed hundreds of bikes over the years. Together, we’re keeping usable bicycles in circulation and supporting affordable cycling within the community.
