WAHOO BREWERY TOUR – ILKLEY EVENT REPORT

 

Friday the 2^nd of December saw the triumphant return of the Wheelbase Wahoo Brewery Tour! Hosted at the Ilkley Brewery this super-fun night of virtual bike racing was back for its second year bringing together local cyclists from Ilkley and Yorkshire with the guys from Wahoo UK and our Wheelbase Yorkshire store team. With a fantastic prize-list on offer and fine Ilkley Brewery beer on tap the evening saw fast and frenetic virtual racing on the latest hi-tech Wahoo Kickr bikes and included a team competition as well as a race for individuals.

There was a great mix of riders ready to give it their all and a fantastic level of support from the crowd for each and every rider; with Reece and Matt from Wahoo UK ringing their cowbells and shouting words of encouragement every competitor went as deep as they could to set a fast time on a custom virtual course set on Wahoo’s RGT racing platform.

Prizes on the night were awarded for fastest individual male and fastest individual female with the winners taking home a Wahoo Elemnt Roam GPS computer worth £349.99. The fastest team of three riders received £100.00 pounds each in Wheelbase vouchers as well as full Castelli Wheelbase team kit. Everyone who attended the event was entered into a prize draw for a Wahoo Kickr Smart Trainer with WiFi worth £1,099.99 which was drawn at the end of the night; a fantastic prize!

With non-stop racing, fine Ilkley Brewery beer and lots of crowd support the Wahoo Brewery Tour was a great evening’s entertainment.

 

There was one other star prize on the night; one which was keenly contested throughout each round of racing. Wheelbase would award the best ‘pain face’ of the night to the competitor with the best gurn, with each rider being captured on camera before it was put to the vote at the end of the night, the rider with the loudest cheer receiving their own height in Ilkley Brewery Beer!

There was plenty of audience participation including a vote for the night’s best pain face.

 

A massive thank you to everyone who came to our event and made it such a fun night! Big thanks to Reece and the team from Wahoo UK, to Bernie and the lads from Wheelbase Yorkshire and The Ilkley Brewery for their hospitality and fine beer! Virtual racing on a tight city-centre circuit meant maximum effort out of every turn.

The winners of the team prize took home £100 each in Wheelbase Vouchers as well as full Wheelbase Castelli cycling kit.

 

The fastest female racer of the night took home a Wahoo Elemnt Roam GPS computer.

The lucky winner of the Wahoo prize draw took home a Kickr Smart Trainer with WifFi worth £1,099.99

 

Finally the winner of ‘best pain face’ received their own height in Ilkley Brewery beer!
