WHEELBASE CABTECH CASTELLI ROAD TEAM ARE READY TO RAS!

Wheelbase Cabtech Castelli

The Wheelbase Cabtech Castelli road racing team are set to take on one of their most challenging races yet, as the young team line up alongside a packed field of international riders at the prestigious Rás Tailteann stage race in Ireland. This iconic race has played host to some of the most talented road cyclists over the years with an alumni that includes riders who went on to race at the highest level within international professional road racing.

The lads are pinning on their numbers ready for stage one of the prestigious Rás Tailteann.

The 68th edition of the Rás Tailteann starts today (Wednesday 17th of May) and plays out over five days of gruelling racing on some of the most challenging roads in Ireland; this year the Rás completes a clockwise loop of the Emerald Isle with riders covering a total of 768km over 5 stages.

Our five young team riders go into the Ras with high hopes and are looking forward to experiencing an international stage race.

Our Wheelbase Cabtech Castelli team can count on the race being fast and frenetic over every stage, with hilly roads, strong winds and wet weather all but guaranteed to factor in how this multi-stage race plays out. The Rás will no-doubt prove to be a valuable learning experience for our young team and the extra challenge of lining up for consecutive stages will really test the lads.

The packed field of international racers will add an extra dimension for the team, requiring them to adapt to a slightly different racing style to the typical one-day U.K. races. We wish them all the best for the next five days and would also like to thank the support team who will be working hard behind the scenes to help the lads get the most out of this experience.

The Wheelbase Cabtech Castelli car is loaded with the team’s awesome Cannondale SuperSix EVO race bikes.

Our team’s Directeur Sportif Stu Reid will be calling the shots from the team car with Tim Martin looking after the team logistics and providing nutrition. We’re also really fortunate enough to have local Irish man Damian Faulkner on the team for the race; he’ll be providing mechanical assistance as well as sharing all of his valuable Irish racing knowledge.

Special thanks as always to all of our super-supportive sponsors for helping us to facilitate racing at an international level; good luck Wheelbase Cabtech Castelli!
