Join us on Saturday the 5th of March for the Wheelbase Spring Classic Sportive!

We’ve almost made it through another long winter and are now quickly heading towards Spring; what better to mark the transition into slightly warmer, longer days than joining us for the return of our Wheelbase Spring Classic Sportive.

Starting and finishing at our Wheelbase Lake District store in the village of Staveley in the South Lakes the Spring Classic Sportive takes you through scenic valleys and over hills with stunning vistas. There’s two great courses to choose from with both routes heading south eastwards through Cumbria taking in some very quiet back lanes that you’re probably completely unaware of (unless you’ve done our Sportive before!).

Choose between our shorter 34 mile route or longer 55 mile route to suit you and your own abilities for a really social ride with like-minded cyclists on some the best roads the UK has to offer, taking in the beautiful views of the Howgills, Dent and Barbon.

To keep things interesting we’ve included a timed hill climb up Shacklabank, a tricky little climb which will see our fastest male and female cyclists crowned King and Queen of the Mountain with a £75.00 Wheelbase gift voucher awarded to both winners.

Choose the long route and head further afield but get a bonus refreshments stop before heading back to Staveley for tea, cake and time to check out our huge range of bikes in the UK’s largest cycle store. Saturday the 5th of March is also the date for one of Procycling’s most demanding Spring Classic races – the Strade Bianche race which takes place on the white gravel roads of Tuscany in Italy; we’ll have it on live on the big screen at Wheelbase HQ when you finish the Sportive!
