Each year, Wheelbase proudly supports and hosts a wide range of cycling events that celebrate our passion for two wheels and the vibrant community around them.

From road to mountain biking, gravel to family-friendly challenges, we champion cycling across all disciplines. Our calendar includes iconic events such as The Fred Whitton Challenge, The Jenn Ride, Hamsterely and Staveley Demo Days, The Staveley 3 Valley Challenge, Tour De Staveley and Lanequest—each offering something unique for riders of all abilities. Whether we’re helping riders push their limits, discover new gear, or simply enjoy the ride, our commitment to cycling events is at the heart of what we do.

Santa Ride 2025

Friday 12th December

Santa Ride – Friday 12 December, Staveley

Get ready for some festive fun on two wheels! Join the annual Santa Ride as we set off from The Eagle & Child, Staveley, at 6.30pm on Friday 12 December for a cheerful evening spin.

The ride is all about festive fancy dress – so dig out that red suit, elf hat, or even channel your inner Grinch or Rudolph! The more Santas the better.

Entry is just £10 (cash), with all proceeds going to Cancer Research UK. It’s a brilliant way to spread Christmas cheer, support a great cause, and light up Staveley with a parade of pedal-powered Santas.

WHEELBASE BIG DEMO WEEKEND | Staveley

21–22 March 2026

The Wheelbase Big Demo Weekend returns to Staveley on 21–22 March 2026, bringing the UK’s original and biggest mountain bike demo back to the heart of the Lake District.

The Wheelbase Hamsterley Demo Day returns to the North East on 16 May 2026, bringing a full day of mountain bike and e-MTB testing to one of the region’s most popular trail centres.

Riders can expect a packed schedule of guided demo laps on the latest bikes from leading global brands, in Hamsterley Forest. Booking details will be released soon, and demand is always high, so signing up to the Wheelbase mailing list is the best way to secure a slot.
