Description
Cervelo Aspero Apex 2027 Gravel Bike
The Cervelo Aspero Apex 2027 is a fast, race-focused gravel bike designed for riders who want to cover rough ground at speed. The latest Aspero retains the character of the original while introducing a more aerodynamic frame, increased mud clearance, improved compliance and updated drivetrain compatibility.
This Apex build pairs the carbon Aspero frameset with a SRAM Apex 1 drivetrain, SRAM Apex Eagle rear derailleur and wide-range 12-speed 11-50T cassette. Vision Team 30 Disc wheels and 700 x 45C WTB Vulpine tyres provide a versatile setup for fast gravel riding, racing and longer days on mixed surfaces.

Fast Gravel, Refined
Aerodynamic development remains an important part of the Aspero platform, but Cervelo’s focus is on saving energy as well as outright speed. The latest frame delivers a stated three-watt aerodynamic improvement over the previous Aspero, helping reduce the energy required to maintain speed over long gravel races and rides.
The changes go beyond aerodynamics. Lowered seat stays introduce additional compliance at the rear, while Cervelo has slightly reduced front-end stiffness to improve comfort during long hours in the saddle without moving the Aspero away from its performance-focused character.
More Clearance When Gravel Gets Messy
Additional clearance around the dropped seat stays gives mud more room to pass through the frame. Cervelo applied lessons learned from its R5-CX cyclocross platform and challenging muddy race conditions to make the latest Aspero more capable when dry, fast gravel turns wet and difficult.
SRAM Apex 1×12 Drivetrain
The Aspero Apex uses a simple 1×12 drivetrain built around a SRAM Apex 1 DUB Wide chainset with a 46T chainring. At the rear, a SRAM Apex Eagle D1 derailleur works with the wide-range SRAM PG-1210 Eagle 11-50T cassette.
This combination removes the need for a front derailleur while providing a broad spread of gearing for changing gradients and mixed-surface riding.
T47a Threaded Bottom Bracket
The latest Aspero moves to Cervelo’s asymmetrical T47a threaded bottom bracket standard, first used by the brand on the R5-CX. Cervelo developed the system to retain the benefits of its BBRight approach while providing a threaded and more rider-serviceable interface.
UDH Drivetrain Compatibility
A SRAM Universal Derailleur Hanger brings the Aspero in line with the UDH standard. Alongside making replacement hangers more widely available, the design provides compatibility for riders who may want to use a suitable SRAM Transmission drivetrain and helps prepare the frame for future drivetrain developments using the standard.
Vision Team 30 Disc Wheels
Vision Team 30 Disc wheels provide the foundation for this Apex build. Their 27 mm internal rim width is paired with 700 x 45C WTB Vulpine TCS Light Fast Rolling Dual DNA tyres, giving the bike a high-volume gravel setup suited to varied surfaces.
The Vision rims are tubeless compatible, allowing the wheel system to be converted to an appropriate tubeless setup with the required compatible components.
Gravel-Focused Finishing Kit
Cervelo combines its ST36 alloy stem with a 400 mm HB23 alloy handlebar, while a Fizik Vento Argo X5 saddle sits on a 27.2 mm Cervelo alloy seatpost.
A Cervelo Smartpak Top Tube Storage Bag 400A and Front Computer/Accessory Mount 265 are also included, adding practical storage and accessory mounting to the race-focused platform.
Who It’s For
The Cervelo Aspero Apex 2027 is for riders who prioritise speed and efficiency on gravel but still need the versatility to deal with rough surfaces, steep gradients and changing conditions. Its aerodynamic carbon platform, 1×12 SRAM Apex Eagle drivetrain, 45C WTB tyres and updated UDH and T47a standards make it particularly well suited to gravel racing, fast mixed-surface riding and long days where efficiency matters.
