Description
Cervelo Aspero Apex AXS 1 2027 Gravel Bike
The Cervelo Aspero Apex AXS 1 2027 combines the fast, race-focused Aspero carbon platform with a wireless SRAM 1×12 drivetrain and a gravel-ready Reserve wheelset. The latest Aspero is more aerodynamic than its predecessor while changes to frame compliance and mud clearance make it better suited to long races and demanding days on mixed surfaces.
SRAM Apex AXS controls are paired with an S1000 Eagle AXS rear derailleur and wide-range Eagle Transmission cassette. Reserve 30 GR AL wheels, 700 x 45C WTB Vulpine tyres, a carbon Cervelo handlebar and carbon seatpost complete a build designed around fast, capable gravel riding.

Fast Gravel, Refined
The latest Aspero remains focused on covering gravel quickly, but Cervelo has refined the platform rather than simply chasing outright stiffness. Aerodynamic changes deliver a stated three-watt saving over the previous Aspero, reducing the energy required to maintain speed during long races and exposed rides.
Dropped seat stays introduce additional compliance at the rear, while Cervelo has slightly reduced front-end stiffness to improve comfort as hours in the saddle accumulate. Additional clearance around the seat stays also gives mud more room to pass through the frame when conditions deteriorate.
Wireless SRAM AXS 1×12 Drivetrain
SRAM Apex AXS D1 controls bring wireless electronic shifting to this Aspero build. At the rear, an S1000 Eagle AXS derailleur works with an XS-1270 Eagle Transmission 12-speed cassette, giving the bike a wide-range 1x setup without the complexity of a front derailleur.
A SRAM Apex 1 DUB Wide chainset uses a 46T chainring, providing a performance-focused front gear for fast gravel riding while the wide-range cassette provides the gearing needed as gradients become steeper.
UDH and Transmission Compatibility
The Aspero uses SRAM’s Universal Derailleur Hanger standard, supporting the S1000 Eagle AXS drivetrain fitted to this build and providing compatibility with suitable SRAM Transmission components.
UDH also gives the frame a widely adopted derailleur interface, helping make the Aspero compatible with drivetrain developments based around the same standard.
T47 Threaded Bottom Bracket
Cervelo uses its asymmetrical T47a threaded bottom bracket interface on the latest Aspero. Originally developed for the R5-CX, the design combines the packaging benefits of Cervelo’s BBRight approach with a threaded, rider-serviceable interface.
Reserve 30 GR AL Gravel Wheels
Reserve 30 GR AL wheels move this build onto a wheelset developed specifically around gravel riding. The aluminium rims are paired with Reserve 4LD hubs and are tubeless compatible, providing the option to run an appropriate tubeless setup.
WTB Vulpine TCS Light Fast Rolling Dual DNA SG tyres measure 700 x 45C, giving the Aspero a high-volume tyre setup for mixed gravel surfaces. Their 120 tpi construction completes a wheel and tyre package aimed at fast off-road riding.
Carbon Contact Points
A Cervelo AB09 carbon handlebar features a 31.8 mm clamp and 16 degree flare, providing a gravel-specific cockpit paired with the Cervelo ST36 alloy stem. At the rear, a Fizik Vento Argo X3 saddle sits on Cervelo’s SP19 27.2 mm carbon seatpost.
These carbon components complement the Aspero frame while keeping the cockpit focused on the control and riding positions needed across varied gravel terrain.
Ready for Long Gravel Rides
Cervelo includes several practical accessories with the Aspero Apex AXS 1. The Smartpak Top Tube Storage Bag 400A provides accessible on-bike storage, while front computer and rear accessory mounts give riders dedicated options for carrying additional equipment.
Who It’s For
The Cervelo Aspero Apex AXS 1 2027 is for gravel riders who want a fast carbon platform with wireless electronic shifting and wide-range 1x gearing. With its SRAM AXS drivetrain, Reserve gravel wheels, 45C WTB tyres and updated Aspero frame, it is particularly well suited to gravel racing, fast mixed-surface rides and long days where speed, efficiency and capability all matter.
