Merida Big Seven 40 2026
27.5″ Aluminium Hardtail Mountain Bike
The Merida Big Seven 40 2026 is the ideal entry point into serious mountain biking, offering a trail-ready aluminium hardtail frame designed for agility, comfort, and modern off-road performance. Built with Merida’s 50 years of expertise, the Big Seven features an updated geometry with a longer reach, shorter stem, steeper seat angle, and slacker head angle to deliver confident handling on trails while remaining practical for everyday riding.
The TFS V 6061 aluminium frame is double-butted and technoformed, incorporating full internal cable routing for a clean, streamlined look. Key frame features include a tapered headtube for future upgrades, inboard disc brake mounts for protection and maximum stopping power, dropper post compatibility, mudguard and kickstand mounts, and a BSA threaded bottom bracket. The XXS size extends the Big Seven range for shorter riders, while the Big Nine and Big Seven sizes allow riders in the middle to choose between speed and efficiency or agility.
Trail performance is boosted by the 120mm travel X-Fusion Migo 32 Air fork with lockout, paired with Shimano hydraulic disc brakes for reliable stopping power. The Shimano 1×9 drivetrain, including a 32-tooth chainset and 11-46t cassette, provides smooth, versatile gear changes for a range of terrain.
The Big Seven 40 rides on 27.5-inch Kenda Booster tyres, available in standard black or tanwall, mounted on Merida Comp CC aluminium rims. Merida Comp CC and Comp SL components on the cockpit, handlebars, and seatpost ensure lightweight, durable control, while Shimano UN101 hubs and VP VPE 536 pedals complete the reliable build.
